What do you bring with you when you come to God?
Psalm 95 suggests thanksgiving as cargo:
“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.” (Psalm 95:1, 2)
I’m thinking about what I will bring with me today as I prepare for worship on this Sunday morning: a sweater, the curriculum and spare parts for my class of four and five year olds, the music for worship team, my Bible and journal.
Will I also be bringing my gratitude and joyful praise?
Of course, the truth is that worship is not a Sunday-specific activity. As believers, we are invited to enter the presence of God on any average Thursday, any time of day.
(This Sunday school level data should actually be staggering…)
Today, let’s allow the call to worship of Psalm 95 to motivate us to take inventory of what we’re bringing with us into the presence of God.

This is such a good reminder. All too often we bring our needs and want to be filled up enough to make it to the next Sunday!

Truth!
We make worship and scripture all about us when it’s truly all about God.

Prayers that when I go to God prayerfully, that I understand what he is willing for me, and that I thank him daily for his intercession into life all around we humans. I use to teach the early grade school children which now seems eons ago, but I know from my experience how they can enrich your day. I bet they love you as their teacher. 🙂

A heart prepared to worship is the best thing we can bring. A quote we featured this past week over on our Instagram says it well: “If you show up for church expecting to hear from God when you have not read your Bible, prayed for others, had times of personal worship, or shared the Gospel it is likely you will leave thinking you wasted your time.” —Michale Catt
