Maybe you’re old enough to remember an old song from the 1960s with the strong suggestion that “What the World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love.” While I can’t argue with the premise, I would humbly suggest that wisdom is a more immediate need.
Wisdom presiding over love sounds like an equation with a better outcome.
Wisdom governing our words may lead to better understanding.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) may offer a quick and effortless solution for some applications, but the work of applying Authentic Intelligence yields a better harvest. Authentic Intelligence is godly wisdom, the desire for God to order all things and to have the preeminence in all we do. James has defined it for us:
The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
(James 3:17)
Rather than succumbing to an algorithm-reading, which-way-is-the-wind-blowing-today filter for my thinking and my decisions, I’m trusting for grace to “get wisdom” with a few filtering questions that arise from James’s definition.
Are my motives pure?
Is what I’m about to do or say coming from a desire to do good or to look good?
Whose applause am I hoping to gain?
Does the peace of Christ rule in my heart…?
…or am I trying to make peace with some other master?
Words and actions that flow from bitter jealousy and selfish ambition will manifest in unhealthy and unhelpful ways in my body and soul.
Am I choosing the least hurtful way of practicing biblical fidelity?
Wisdom may require me to defend what is good and true, but it does not necessitate unnecessary conflict or quarrelsomeness.
“If possible, so far as it depends on [me],” am I willing to “live peaceably with all”? (Romans 12:18)
Can I explain my course of action without verbal gymnastics?
Wisdom is open to reason. Am I willing to admit that I might be wrong?
Are my ears open to opposing viewpoints before my opinion has slammed shut like a closed book?
Authentic Intelligence or “wisdom from above” will show itself by works more than words, by how we get along with others, and by the quest for holiness above all.

I agree, wisdom seems to be in short supply in our world.

I do remember that song. 🙂 Our pastor just started a series on Proverbs, the first few messages dealing with the need for wisdom. It seems like the older I get, the more I see the need for God’s wisdom.

Wow, a series on Proverbs will be like drinking from a wisdom firehose!

In this day of quick fixes and foolish soundbites, wisdom seems to get shoved over into a corner. But there are those of us who still seek her … and it’s in relationship with God and His Word that we’ll find her treasures, everything we need for life and godliness.

“Her treasures!”
May we have eyes to see and hearts to discern that the offerings of wisdom are so much more valuable than whatever else we might be chasing!

Praise God for his wisdom! I pray that those in leadership positions may recognize Authentic Intelligence when they see it and follow its guidance (thus exercising GOD’S wisdom, perhaps without even knowing it)!

That sounds like a perfect way to satisfy the biblical command to pray for our leaders!

Thank you, Michele, wisdom is what is missing in our culture today, especially viewed through Paul’s pronouncement in 1 Corinthians 1:24, Christ is the wisdom of God. So with all our “getting” we do well to “get” the only authentic wisdom worth getting.

Wisdom is so needed in these days we are living. May we seek God for the answers we need, and apply the wisdom He provides. AI = Authentic Intelligence from God alone. Yes, please!

I agree – wisdom seems to be lacking in our world, and we should all aspire to have more wisdom and discernment in how we live. You pose excellent questions from Scripture for examining our hearts.

Love your thoughts on Artificial Intelligence vs. Authentic Intelligence. I also agree strongly with your first point that asks the question, “Is what I’m about to do or say coming from a desire to do good or to look good?” Motive means everything, and we would do well to question our own motives before we make a move.

I love your distinction between artificial intelligence and authentic intelligence. While I am trying to learn more how to use AI, it can’t replace authentic intelligence!

In fact, I would say that our use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) must be guided by AI (Authentic Intelligence/Wisdom).
